Transfer of Credits to Other Institutions
Each institution has policies that govern the acceptance of credit from other institutions. Accreditation by one of six regional accrediting associations is the normal and primary criterion for making such determinations. The College is accredited by the Association of Community Colleges and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). Credits and degrees from the College may not be accepted by transfer institutions. Students who are anticipating a transfer or advanced studies are encouraged to contact such institutions directly to determine how the College credits will relate to the requirements of those institutions.(SOC) Servicemembers Opportunity College Agreement:
The College is a member of Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges (SOC) and participates in the SOCNAV associate degree programs for Navy and their adult family members. The SOC network programs provide active duty personnel with a means to earn an undergraduate degree from the College if transferred before completion of the required course work. The College issues a SOCNAV Student Agreement to every active-duty service member who enrolls, provided that the College has received all transcripts and other required documents such as the DD295 or Smart Transcript, and that the student has satisfactorily completed one 12-quarter unit course in residence. Participation in the SOCNAV network system begins when a Student Agreement is issued. This agreement guarantees that the College will accept transfer credit from SOC member colleges and will confer the undergraduate degree upon successful completion of all academic requirements.
A SOCNAV Student Agreement is valid for a period of seven years. To be eligible for an associate degree from the College under the terms of the Student Agreement, students must complete at least 12 quarter units in residence at the College. Military students should contact the Transfer Specialist in the Office of the Registrar for further information.
