Any course substitutions or changes in a degree program must be consistent with a student's degree objective and fulfill the graduation requirements for the degree. Students should contact an admissions advisor for advice and assistance in requesting such changes. For students receiving financial aid, changes made to their schedules after processing may delay or cancel their aid. Speak to a financial aid advisor before withdrawing from a course or requesting a schedule or program change.
Students can change a registered course as follows:
Dropping a Course: Prior to the first class session, a student may drop a course from his or her schedule. No grade will be given and no tuition will be charged.
Students May Change a Course: To assure that the desired course is available, students are encouraged to substitute or add a course at least one week in advance of the start date.
Course Withdrawal: The term "Withdrawal" signifies that a student has withdrawn from a course prior to the third class session and must be made to the Office of the Registrar. Notifying the instructor or any other department other than the Office of the Registrar of one's intent to withdraw is insufficient and will not constitute a withdrawal. The effective date of withdrawal is the last date of actual attendance. This is a permanent mark (W grade) with no grade points assigned.
Dropping from College: The College may drop a student for reasons such as excessive absenteeism, unsatisfactory academic progress, failure to return from an approved leave of absence, failure to meet financial obligations, substance abuse, and other violations of the Code of Conduct. A dropped student will receive written notification, and a copy of the notice will be placed in the student's academic file.
Readmittance: Readmittance to the College is at the discretion of the College. Refer to "Returning to the College" under Admissions Policies.
NOTE: In accordance with federal regulations, applicable financial aid agencies will be notified of all drops and withdrawals.
