Overview

The NDT program is designed to provide students with the skills, knowledge and hands-on training to perform a variety of inspections to determine the condition and integrity of components and structures ranging from structural steel buildings, subsea pipelines and platforms to aircraft.  Students are trained in a variety of nondestructive testing methods to inspect metals, welds, and other materials.  These methods include ultrasonic inspection and testing, magnetic particle testing, liquid penetrant testing and visual weld inspection.

The NDT program also instructs the student on the underwater application and uses of many of these inspection methods including underwater photography and video.  After the successful completion of the program the student may be eligible to earn letters of qualification to Level I or Level II in each of the methods in accordance with the American Society for Nondestructive Testing's Recommended Practice SNT-TC-1A, as well as the international standard ISO 9712.
