Credits/Hours: 6 Credits
Covers the fundamentals of visual testing to include visual limitations, inspector responsibilities, codes and standards, weld joint geometry, welding terminology, welding/NDT symbols, mechanical and chemical properties of metals, destructive testing, metallurgy, weld processes, and weld and base metal discontinuities. Students also learn to use and maintain a variety of visual enhancing test equipment to include, but not limited to, assorted measuring tools. Students also gain knowledge in the planning and the conducting of a survey. Training is in accordance with ASNT recommended practice number: SNT-TC-1A for VT Level II training and Canadian Standard 48.9712 as per I.S.O. 9000 series and also serves as preparatory course for American Welding Society Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) test. Prerequisites: ST266.
