Credits/Hours: 6 Credits
Fundamental and intermediate skills of underwater burning, i.e., cutting, piercing, and gouging. Practical in-water assignments range from cutting 3/8" steel plate up to 1 1/4" plate and pipe with diameters up to 24". The final project is one of significant difficulty that tests the students' teamwork performance in addition to technical competency. Students use ultrathermic and tubular steel burning rods as used by offshore diving contractors.
Prerequisites: Marine Technology I, AWS D1.5:2G certification, and approved physical.
