This course includes a study of the techniques and procedures used above and below the waterline for approaching and protecting the crime scene. It covers crime scene survey and documentation, collection of fragile and easily destroyed evidence, detailed search of the scene, packaging of initial evidence collected, maintenance of the chain-of-custody, and transporting or mailing evidence. The course includes the legalities of crime scene searches and seizures, from the initial entry into crime scene to the presentation of the physical evidence in the courtroom.
