Introduction to the diving industry including pay scales, work schedules, and living conditions on the job. Students learn about the differences between air, mixed gas, and saturation diving and the various types of commercial diving including offshore, harbor, and inland diving. Emphasis is placed on the diver's role in the industry and how the College's curriculum and safety policies relate to the diving industry. Included are principles and procedures related to safe diving operations. Students learn about rig abandonment, helicopter orientation, offshore survival, personnel flotation devices (PFDs), life rafts, lifeboats, and locating aids (visual and audio) for rescue at sea. Students earn certifications for First Aid and Adult CPR upon completing this course.
