For the Associate of Science degree in Hyperbaric Medical Technology program, each student is required to perform 480 hours of clinical internship in order to complete the degree program and sit for the national CHT exam. In the class series HT291 - 294, students are placed in multi- and monoplace hyperbaric facilities to receive the required contact hours and to complete specific training syllabus objectives. Up to 80 clinical hours may be received from the cumulative performed in DV122, DV124, DV285, and DV286. The remaining hours will be accomplished by assignment to pre-approved monoplace and multiplace hyperbaric locations. The minimum amount of internship hours is 480, although longer periods may be necessary to complete the contact syllabus. Students must hold either an active EMT-Basic or Advance Diver Medic certification before starting internships.

NOTE: Students may be required to obtain medical malpractice insurance at a nominal fee during their ambulance ride-alongs, hospital practicums, and hyperbaric chamber internships, and may be required to undergo a background check and drug screening prior to being approved to participate in internships.
