Age
Some states and federal agencies require that an individual be 18 years of age to be qualified for licensure or certification.

Medical Examination
An applicant to the Hyperbaric Medical Technology Program is required to pass a medical examination (including drug and HIV screening) at his or her expense.  This examination must be performed by a licensed medical doctor in accordance with the College protocols, using a College Medical Acceptance Form (available from Admissions Department).  The College recommends that the medical examination be completed close to the start of the 50-week program.  All completed medical examinations are subject to review and the College makes the final determination as to the applicant's acceptance.

Background Checks
At the student's own expense, students may be required to undergo a background check, drug screen, and approval by hospitals, clinics, and ambulance companies prior to participating in ambulance ride-alongs and emergency room observations.   Students may be required to obtain medical malpractice insurance at a nominal fee during their ambulance ride-alongs, hospital practicums, and internships.

Certain felony convictions could impact certification such as the National Registry Emergency Medical Technician and Diver Medical Technician.

NOTE: Students may be required to obtain medical malpractice insurance at a nominal fee during their ambulance ride-alongs, hospital observations, and internships.
