Provides an overview of traditional health care delivery systems and current social, economic, and political influences. It introduces students to health occupation role expectations and addresses consumer health needs, trends, and issues. Covers topics including types of health care providers and the scope of professional practices, introduction to hospitals, ambulatory care settings, long-term care settings and the regulatory and professional bodies supporting health care practices, GAO corporate integrity, confidentiality of protected health information, notice of privacy practices, and patient confidentiality.
