Knowing Your Knots. The seven most common knots (and the knots that students must demonstrate mastery) are: Bowline, Clove hitch, Constrictor hitch, Rolling hitch, Round turn and two half hitches, Double sheet bend and the Running bowline. The (Full) Carrick Bend and the Monkey's Fist (used for heavy lines) are nice to know but not required.
