What kind of financial aid is available?
Scholarships, grants, and loans are available to those who qualify. It is recommended that you telephone or meet with a Financial Aid Officer immediately after submitting your Enrollment Application. In addition, the College is approved for Veterans Benefits.
Where will I live? How much is rent?
Adequate, comfortable housing is available locally at an average cost of $350 - $500 per month, with three roommates. Ultimately, the costs of rent will depend on your particular living standards.
Can I ride a bicycle to the college?
Some students live close enough to ride a bicycle to school, some ride public buses, and many car pool with other students. Classes may be held at more than one location and may include field trips. Some courses require that students participate in ambulance ride-alongs and emergency room observations.
Can I work while I go attend the College?
Yes. You'll be in the classroom 16-20 hours per week plus outside assignments, depending on your program. Most students work part-time and many work full-time. The Student Services Department assists students in finding part-time jobs. You cannot legally work in the United States unless you are a citizen or have a green card.
Will the College assist me in finding a job after I graduate?
Yes. The Graduate Placement Office will provide you with placement assistance.
Is there additional educational assistance?
Educational assistance can be arranged by the Academic Department. When a student requests individual tutoring, the Academic Department will provide an educational assistant (student) from a previous class who has excelled in the subject(s) needed. There is no additional charge for this service.
If I wear glasses, will it keep me out of commercial diving?
No, not if your vision is correctable to 20/20.
How much money do I need to relocate to Southern California?
You'll need a minimum of $2,500 when you arrive here. This will cover your share of first month rent plus security deposit and leave you with money for food, utilities and incidental expenses until you can get help with job assistance in Student Services. If you are bringing any dependents, we strongly recommend that you increase this amount.
What is the difference between your programs and other schools and colleges?
The College's programs are developed to prepare students for employment, not just certification preparation. Employers require more in-depth and diversified training than what is offered by many programs offered at other schools.
What is the most important thing I should look at when deciding on a College to attend?
Comprehensive and diverse training programs (not just certification preparation), experienced instructors and an active, results-oriented placement department are what a good school should provide.
