Planning ahead and applying for financial aid programs can help students obtain an education, which might otherwise be outside their financial reach.

To be considered for Federal and State financial aid, students must complete the process of "need analysis." Need analysis is the method used to estimate the amount of money students and their families can reasonably contribute toward the cost of education. For example, the 2007-2008 school year student awards will be determined using 2006 income (taxed and untaxed) and current assets. Other factors considered include the student's marital status and household size.

To apply for financial aid a student must*:

  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) paper or online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
  • Submit Federal Income Tax Returns (and spouse's returns if filing separately) for the most recent tax year, or submit a non-filing statement.
  • Complete the Application for Federal Family Education Loans.
  • All paper documents should be submitted to National Polytechnic financial aid office.
  • Provide proof of identification and Social Security number.

Financial aid is not guaranteed from one award year (July 1st to June 30th) to the next. The student must reapply for every academic year s/he attends National Polytechnic.
