National Polytechnic Now Offers Emergency Medical Technician Certificate Program
EMT-Basic offered in ten-week format

National Polytechnic College of Science is pleased to announce the offering of an Emergency Medical Technician certificate program.
Students in the program will learn techniques appropriate to providing care with an ambulance or transport service. EMT students also learn to respond to medical and trauma situations, the use of assessment and stabilizing, and proper use of support equipment.
Areas covered in the certificate program include: EMT roles and responsibilities, airway management, patient assessment, medical emergencies, anatomy and physiology, documentation, lifting and moving, communications, childbirth, trauma emergencies, pediatric emergencies, environmental emergencies, behavioral emergencies, and ambulance operations. Practical labs will also be conducted in the program.
Upon passing two courses, the student will be eligible to take the EMT-B Licensure Examination through the National Registrar of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT).
Graduates of the Emergency Medical Technology program will have many opportunities for employment, including in local emergency medical services, industrial EMTs, sports medicine, fire departments, law enforcement, dispatchers, and school health programs. In addition, EMT-1 qualifies for most higher-level scope of practice source certification. An example would be higher-level medical fields such as Certified Hyperbaric Medical Technician, Diver Medic, and Life Guards.
